Carrigtwohill United – 3

Riverstown C – 0

19th Jan 2020 at Ballyadam Park

This was a really great performance from the Carrigtwohill lads playing against Riverstown C in the Con Elliot Cup.

They started with some superb pressure from the midfield players with penetrating runs up the right wing from Daniel Cunningham who was getting great crosses into the box.

After 6 minutes, Daniel Mc scored the first goal with a great individual run after a through ball from midfield again.

Carrigtwohill kept the pressure on their opponents and created more chances. Kevin on the left, gave Kieran playing as striker some great opportunities, but the Riverstown keeper was superb all day and kept the home team at bay with some great saves.

However, Daniel soon scored the second goal with a great ball into the box with two players attacking the ball.

At the half time break Carrigtwohill 2 goals to the good.

Riverstown came out the start of second half with something to prove and had Carrigtwohill under pressure for the first 10 minutes – threatening to score.

Carrigtwohill eventually came back into the game after making a few substitutions which kept the shape of the team.

After numerous corner kicks in succession and Padraig scored to make it 3-0 with 10min to go.

The lads held strong and created even more chances with Kieran breaking the Riverstown defence time and time again. Carrigtwohill kept a clean sheet on the day to win their first Cup match.
