Carrigtwohill United – 7

Douglas Hall B – 0

8th Dec 2019 at Ballyadam – Local Cup

Carrigtwohill United Under-13’s hosted Douglas Hall B in the first round of the local cup today.

With Carrigtwohill having a tough run in a very strong div 1, they needed a good performance today.

The home side started strong with a lot of possession, creating early chances. The midfield pairing of Amany and Leslie supplied good ball to both Alex Kingston left wing and Alex Lombard right

Alex Lombard made some great penetrating runs up the right which in turn linked up with the deadly pairing of Rollie and Leroy up front. They soon opened the scoring with Leslie playing a lovely weighted pass to Rollie who finished with an unstoppable strike.

The boys kept the pressure on throughout the first half. Ethan, Leo and Sam, who were rolling on and off as subs, slotted into their respective roles keeping the shape of the team and this enabled Rollie score his second after 15minutes to put them 2 up at the break.

At the start of the second  half the weather turned for the worst with heavy rain, but that did not deter the boys who had the wind at their back and great confidence. Douglas Hall, sitting mid table in division 7 were unable to make a comeback despite their best efforts.

Carrigtwohill scored another 5 goals in second half, Rollie, Leslie, Leroy, Alex Sull, and Sam all scored with great passing football from the entire team.

The defence, comprising of Dennis, Colm, Jayden, Alex Sull, Leo, Luke and keeper Sebastian didn’t have much to do all day on a cold and wet afternoon in Ballyadam.

Man of the match for a great first half performance goes to Alex Lombard.
