Oriel House Cup Direct Cup v Crosshaven in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 19th February 2017
Carrigtwohill United 0 Crosshaven 3

We started this game slowly and conceded a soft goal after 2 minutes.

However as the first half progressed our good attitude and hard work started to pay off. We battled hard and were on top coming towards half time but failed to create any clear cut chances. Crosshaven scored a good goal at half time against the run of play which made it very difficult for us to come back.

The second half was an even game and Crosshaven scored a third as we were pressing high to try and force ourselves back into the game. Piaras Fitzpatrick was unlucky not to turn an Adam Rooney corner into the net.

Overall the result was harsh on Carrig and we deserved more. Adrian and myself asked for hard work and a good attitude before the game and were delighted with the return. We are disappointed with the result but remain really proud of the lads. The key learning is we will continue to apply ourselves in this manner, and learn from every game especially the defeats-playing against opposition like this will help us improve no end- well done lads- keep your heads up. We acquitted ourselves very well against a team 2 divisions ahead of us. The lads should be happy with their performance today.

We train again on Tuesday and will aim to improve and learn from today. Cameron Kenefick made 3 very good saves , Oisin Lynch & Tom Savage were excellent at centre back. Eric O’ Sullivan continued his recent excellent form and was a constant danger. Man of the match was Liam Moore who was more than a match for the best Crosshaven forwards. The whole team should be proud of their performance. Well done to Nathan Buckley who made his debut.
