National Cup v Carrigaline United in Ballea Park on Saturday 25th October 2014
Carrigtwohill United 7 Carrigtwohill United 0
The National Cup is a competition that can throw up very diverse fixtures and it so it was that we were drawn to play Carrigaline U-13 Premier team. This game was played on a lovely autumn morning in Carrigaline after being postponed the previous weekend due to Ballyadam being unplayable.

Carrigtwohill United went into this game with a very unsettled side with some new players joining the team for the first time. Carrigaline started this game very strongly and playing with a slight breeze, they took an early lead following a break down the left side.

The new Carrigtwohill back four had to settle in quickly as this was to be a difficult opening period and we conceded further goals  as a well organised Carrigaline where proving more penetrating when they had the ball.

Abdul Rahim, starting at center back and pushing into midfield was responsible for pushing Carrigtwohill forward and pressure on the Carrigaline backline resulted in a difficult chance for Toby Kmicek which could not be converted. Daniel Ciolacu, playing in a roaming role, was a constant thorn for Carrigaline who in turn were attacking down both flanks where Daniel Murray and Sean Murphy repelling the danger.

Ben Naughton, playing in goals produced several fine saves, but the ruthlessness of the Carrigaline forward line meant they converted their chances – the final scoreline not a true reflection of the match.

Ballyseedy Home & Gardens Man of the Match: Abdul Rahim.
