League v Wilton United in Pat Bowdren Park on Saturday 10th October 2015
Wilton United 5 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scorer – Mark O’Connor 2.
For our third league game of the season we traveled to Wilton. We put in a much better performance than the scoreline suggests but again just like Kinsale, everything Wilton seemed to hit went in. (3 of their 5 goals went in off the post).
Wilton started fast and were 1-0 up early on. Carrig responded but Wilton’s defence held them out. The highlights of the first half was the good defending by Oisin, Cian and Pairas, and the good play on the right from Liam. The home team doubled their lead before half time.
After the break Carrig got the goal their play deserved. After a couple of good saves by the home keeper, the ball fell for Mark and he drove it home into the far corner from just inside the box. It was game on at 2-1, but soon after a defensive mix up let Wilton in to restore their 2 goal lead. As Carrig pushed on, Wilton were always a threat. They added a 4th and then a 5th before Mark got his second to leave the score 5-2.
