Challenge v Mogeely in Ballyadam Park on Tuesday 3rd May 2016
Carrigtwohill United 0 Mogeely 4

We welcomed Mogeely from the West Waterford East Cork League to Ballyadam park for a challenge game.

A good chance for the fringe plays to get some game time and they didn’t disappoint. The first half was very even, both teams playing well. The back 3 of Joshua, Reuben and David were very solid and the good football played by Cody, Keelan and George gave the visitors plenty of trouble. Liam in goals for the first half made some good saves, one in particular with his feet, to keep a clean sheet. Adam O’Neill was playing well down the wing, both attacking and defending. Mogeely were always a threat but the lads held them out to take the game to the break at 0-0.

Playing against the wind in the second half was always going to affect the team and it wasn’t long before the visitors took the lead. Not much Carrig could do about it when it happened, a long corner to the back post headed into the top corner of the net. Carrig continued to battle in particular George up front on his own. As the game wore on, we tired and made some bad defensive mistakes that allowed Mogeely to score 3 more. Carrig did threaten to score but couldn’t create that clear chance they needed. All in all, a good performance from the boys, some only playing their first match for Carrig.

Match day squad – Liam Moore, Mark Durango, David Williams, Adam O’Neill, Joshua Ryan, George McCarthy, Cody Cunningham, Reuben Isibor, Oran Savage, Keelan O’Brien, Tino Katsamudanga.

Player of the Match : George McCarthy.
