League v Corkbeg in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 11th March 2018
Carrigtwohill United 2 Corkbeg 2
Scores: Cillian McCarthy, Jack O’Regan

Our latest league game on Sunday was a local derby against top of the table Corkbeg. After 3 wins in a row confidence in the team was high and we started with a high tempo which had the opposition pinged back. We took a deserved lead after 5mins after Cillian McCarthy broke from midfield to finish brilliantly to the bottom corner. Continuing to dominate the game we failed to add to our tally before half time.

Corkbeg started the 2nd half better and there was chances at both ends. An unfortunate own goal off a sliced clearance and it was 1 all. The team spirit led by captain Ben Murphy really came to the fore now. We really tore back into the game and took a deserved lead when Jack O’Regan broke threw from the middle of the park and finished expertly.

We got caught with a real sucker punch with just a minute of normal time left when Corkbeg equalised. Again the lads responded and created two great chances but lady luck was not our side and the game ended 2 all.

What was most pleasing about today was how this squad has really grown and played some brilliant football and the team spirit was a joy to watch and on another day would have yielded a comfortable win. Keep it up lads and the results will follow.
