League v Midleton in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 19th November 2017

In what was a rescheduled fixture of Carrigtwohill U11s vs Midleton U11s. The match was held in Ballyadam in front of a sizable crowd that thronged the pitch on Sunday afternoon. The two teams of seven aside plus 2 subs each huddled together before the match and kids had an inspirational talk among themselves. They then dispersed into two teams that were made as one stronger than the other.

Colm Harte captained the stronger side and Ethan Collins captained the other. Midleton brought their strongest 20 kids out of a total 65 in their squad. The odds were heavily tipped against us but the kids didn’t disappoint. It was a spirited performance by both sides who only conceded sloppy goals later on during the game as fatigue kicked in. In the stronger squad the captain of the day brought together the players at half-time to torque up the morale in the team which immediately paid dividends at the start of the second half when we pulled a goal back from the newly introduced substitute. Despite the results in the end Midleton was left in great awe of our team spirit when the kids huddled at the end again encouraging each other taking all the positives home. The referee took pictures that he promised to send to our club in great admiration of the team’s togetherness
