League v Everton in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 6th March 2016
Carrigtwohill United 1 Everton 0
Scorer –
Philip Dorgan

It was great to get back to business on Sunday afternoon. This was our first game since the 13th of dec last year. We were up against Everton at home in the league. Carrig got off to a good start and had the better of the early exchanges creating three good chances before Everton got into the game. The visitors gradually played their way back into the match and were awarded a very soft penalty after twenty minutes.  Carrig’s keeper Liam McCarthy gave his team a great boost when he saved the penalty. Even though the rest of the half was end to end it was the home side who were more comfortable restricting Everton to that one clear chance.

Again Carrig showed great energy in the second half and were rewarded with the only goal of the game after five minutes. Brendan Twomey played a great cross to Philip Dorgan who scored with a volley from the edge of the box. After the goal Everton threw everything at Carrig but failed to score. Then it was Carrig’s turn to go in search of a goal to finish the game but they couldn’t get the ball in the net. This was a very entertaining game and important win that keeps Carrig in contention at the top of the table.
