Munster Junior Cup v Blackpool Celtic in Ballyadam Park on Saturday 27th September 2014
Carrigtwohill United 1 Blackpool Celtic 0
Scorer: Derek Delea
On a glorious day for football Carrigtwohill United advanced to the next round of the Munster Junior Cup courtesy of a victory against a determined Blackpool Celtic. The diference in class in the teams was evident from the off with Carrig showing plenty of attacking flare and good possession football. Nonetheless it was the visitors who came closest to breaking the deadlock when a clearance from Oliver Baverstock in the Carrig goal rebounded to a Blackpool Celtic player in a good position but he squandered a glorious chance. This seemed to have the effect of galvanising Carrig and Derek Delea rounded off a very good spell of attacking football with a glorious strike from outside the box which gave the visiting goalkeeper no chance. Carrig seemed to take their foot off the pedal for the remainder of the first half. The second half was largely uneventful with Blackpool Celtic trying valliantly to break down the Carrig defence. It was not to be however and Carrig booked their spot in the next round.
