League v St Mary’s in Ballyadam Park on Tuesday 2nd September 2014
Carrigtwohill 6 St Mary’s 2
Carrigtwohill Scores: Cormac Horgan 3 (1 pen), Conor O’Mahony, Conor Harte and Brendan Twomey.
In our second league of the season, we welcomed St Mary’s to Ballyadam Park and ran out deserving winners. Both sides had half chances early on but when Conor O’Mahony pounced on a breaking ball on the 12th minute and rifled his shot into the net, there was only going to be one outcome. Carrig were in control for the rest of the half scoring 2 more goals from Cormac Horgan on the 25th and 30th minutes! 3-0 to Carrig at half time. Carrig continued to dominate in the early stages of the second half and on the 50th minute, Conor Harte struck after good work by Andrew McMahon. We made a double substitution minutes later with Simon Doyle and Morgan Doody replacing Jamie Long and Mc Mahon. Within minutes, St Marys got an unexpected goal. Carrig replied on the 62nd minute when Cameron Smyth found Brendan Twomey at the back post from a long throw and Twomey duly obliged by finishing well. The next ten minutes saw St Marys produce a couple of fine saves from Gearoid Cody in goals but they did manage to break through to make it 5-2. Conor Keegan made his long awaited return on the 75th minute replacing Billy Manning. Carrig reaffirmed their dominance when Cody found the excellent Conor Harte, who carried the ball into the box before being brought down. Horgan converted to claim his hatrick and gave Carrig the 3 points making it 6 from 6 after 2 games. Next up is away to Youghal on Sunday 7th of September at 3 pm.
