Carrig Utd B continued their good start to the season with a comfortable 3 nil victory at home to Leeview on Sunday morning. Carrig were able to name a very strong starting 11 and an equally strong bench. First ten minutes both teams were competitive and played some good stuff with the home team having the better of the chances. David ‘Badge’ Williams being particularly bright and the centre of all good things going forward. Carrig broke the deadlock after 24 mins with some good work down the right side, he linked up with Badge who played a lovely ball onto the left side to an open Kevin O’Riordan. Kev brought the ball onto his right foot, opened up his body and curled the ball into the top corner of the goal from a tight angle.

Carrig were playing some really good stuff and looked threatening at every attack. They increased their lead after 35 mins when a Badge corner was met with a trademark Shane Kennedy header. Leeview had the ball over the line before half time from a goal mouth scramble from a corner but the Carrig keeper Ben O’Leary was fouled in the process and the goal was disallowed.

Carrig started the 2nd half slowly but wrapped up the game on 54 mins with some great work down the left hand side between Shane Kennedy, Kevin O’Riordan and Davy Barry. Davy Barry delivered a lovely low cross across the box and Maciek Bezcek ran into the box to stick out a leg and knock the ball over the line. The home team made 4 changes with Dean Salammi and Killian Browne impressing. Darragh Murphy went close at the end and tested the keeper with a good volley but the game finished 3 nil to Carrig and an all round great performance. Man of the Match on the day was the excellent Kalem Deady.
