Carrig Utd B produced a fantastic performance Sunday morning to convincingly beat Blackpool Celtic 3 nil at Ballyadam. Carrig were coming off a bit of a hiding against Corkbeg on Thursday night so a big performance was needed and they didn’t disappoint. Few big players missing but its a squad game and other came in and stepped up to the mark. Both teams battled in the first half, Carrig definitely having the batter of the chances and the younger legs looked a lot more dangerous but no clear chances were created. 0-0 at half time.

Carrig started the 2nd half much more brightly, Peter O’Brien in midfield Central to everything for Carrig and on the day was one of the home teams best performers. The breakthrough came ten minutes into the second half. Dave Badge Williams with some terrific work down the left hand side, he played one of his beautiful low crosses across the box and maciek bezcek ran in at the back post and slammed it home. The second goal came soon after but this one was all bezcek, he won the ball at right back with a great challenge, picked up the ball and ran past 2/3 Blackpool players and slammed it home from just inside the box, it took a slight deflection but the power was taking it anyway, a terrific individual goal.  Carrig continued to dominate and had numerous chances to increase the lead through, Badge, Kev O’Riordan, substitute Dean Sallami  and centre Back Tom O’Brien who headered off the cross bar from a corner but Maciek completed his hatrick late on, Kev O’Riordan with a great cross from the right hand side, a lovely dummy by Mo and Maciek was in the right place to slam it home into the roof of the net.

All in all a very satisfying performance and a great result.
