Carrigtwohill Under-13 V Mallow

Score 1-1

On a beautiful crisp autumn Sunday morning, Carrigtwohill United hosted old foes Mallow United who were both promoted last year. Having won both ties last season, Carrigtwohill went into the game confident of their first league win.

The home side started the game slowly and were struggling to get out of their own half for the first fifteen minutes of the game and had their back four to thank for not going behind.

However, they finally managed to get a foothold in midfield, started playing on the front foot and creating a couple of half chances. Unfortunately, they then conceded on the stroke of half time to go into the break one goal down.

Regrouping during the break the lads responded to instructions to up the work rate and deservedly got an equaliser. Then, just 5 minutes into the second half, Philip Slewa finished well after some great work by Jack, to make it 1-1

Well on top in midfield now, Carrigtwohill really drove at the Mallow defence only to be thwarted by some tough tackling. Try as hard as they might, they couldn’t get the winner that the second half performance deserved.

Man of the match today goes to center half Robbie Warren who stood tallest when the pressure was on and defended brilliantly all game.
