This Sunday afternoon Carrigtwohill U11s travelled to Shanbally to take on Carrigaline Hibs in their latest round of league games. Both sides had agreed to play 9v9 on the larger pitch and enforce the offside rule in preparation for competitive football next season.

Conditions were not ideal as it seemed winter had returned bringing strong winds and icy showers. This however did not deter the kids as they took to their tasks quickly, closing down the opposition and imposing themselves on the games.

All games were fiercely contested and we knew previously that these lads could play football but today we found out that they can also mix it up when needed. The words ‘determination, grit and never say die attitude aptly summing up this afternoons football and it is fair to say Carrigtwohill came out on top in all four games.

Special mention goes to Jarlath Cullimore and Cillian Rooney from one team and Charlie Cambridge and Cathal Seymour from the other. Well done to all involved.
