Carrigaline United 0 Carrigtwohill United B 5
Scorers: Tom O’Shea, Paul Feehan 2, Kieran Murphy, Ken Murphy.
Carrigtwohill produced an excellent performance in terrible conditions to beat a decent Carrigaline side on Saturday. Playing against the strong wind and driving rain in the first half, Carrig got into their stride very quickly with some lovely inter-passing. They got their reward after 10mins when, after some neat inter-play between Mahamad Adam, who was excellent all game, and Paul Feehan, Paul played a lovely through ball to Tom O’Shea who finished well. Carrig continued to create chances down the right with Chris Horgan and Jason Walsh getting in behind the left back a number of times, with Jason putting the ball in the net after 20 mins only to be given offside. Carrigaline did create a number of chances in the 1st half but Mugus Berhame produced some excellent saves in the Carrig goal to keep it at 1-0 at half time.
With the wind at their backs in the 2nd half Carrig began to dominate the game and made it 2-0 after 60mins when Paul Feehan turned the defender 20 yards out and curled the ball in to the bottom left corner. It was 3-0 after 72mins when Kieran Murphy headed in from a Tom O’Shea free kick. Carrigaline tried hard to get back into the game but Mugus and the defence dealt comfortably with all threats. Carrig continued to create chances and it was 4-0 on 80mins when a free kick into the box dropped nicely for Paul Feehan about 15 yards out and he finished with a deflected shot. Luke O’Connell had a goal disallowed for offside late one before Ken Murphy ran onto a poor ball out of defence in the last minute to run through and finish well past the keeper for an emphatic 5-0 win.
