AOH Cup V Knocknaheeney Celtic in Mayfield Community School on Friday 23rd January 2015
Carrigtwohill United B 2 Knocknaheeney Celtic 2. Knocknaheeney Celtic won 3-2 on penalties
Scores: Paul Feehan, Chris Horgan.
Carrigtwohill were knocked out of the AOH cup on penalties at home to 2nd division Knocknaheeney Celtic. Both sides contributed to an excellent game on a heavy pitch that cut up very badly. Carrig started well enough but the 2nd division side soon got on top and were 2 up after 30 minutes. Carrig pulled one back after 40mins when the Knocknaheeney keeper hit his clearance straight to Paul Feehan and from 40 yards he put the ball into the roof of the net.
Carrig upped their game in the 2nd half and started to pass the ball well and create chances but struggled to put them away. Knocknaheeney were soaking the pressure and hitting on the break but couldn’t find a way past Mugus in goal who saved 3 1-on-1’s and made a number of other saves. Carrig kept plugging away and got their reward in the last minute when Mahamad Adam made a great run up the left and crossed for Chris Horgan to finish at the back post to send the game to extra time.
Both sides hit the woodwork in extra time but couldn’t find the net and the game went to penalties. Despite Mugus saving 3 penalties Knocknaheeney came out on top to win 3-2 on penalties.
