Under -13

Date : 9th December 2018

Venue: Ballyadam Park

Carrigtwohill – 1

Corkbeg – 1

The Carrigtwohill Under-13’s latest league game was a local derby at home against Corkbeg. Having lost the toss they played against the stiff breeze and a couple of showers in the first half. Carrigtwohill were struggling to get out of their own half and were under constant pressure but their back four stood firm until the stroke of half time when they failed to clear their lines and conceded to go 1 down.

Typically the wind died in the second half and made it a very even game. The home side started to play a lot better and got on top in midfield. They were unlucky from a couple of dead ball situations when Tadgh Sullivan fizzed a great effort just wide and Mark McCarthy was unlucky not to score direct from a corner.

All seemed lost until Carrigtwohill were awarded a dubious  corner kick in the 5th minute of injury time. Cillian put in a great ball and when the ball was half cleared, Phillip Slewa was on hand to smash the ball into the net.

A well deserved and fair result on the day when Carrigtwohill were not at their best but never gave up.

Man of the Match goes to goalscorer Phillip Slewa who despite having to come off injured in the first half showed great character to return and get the equaliser.
