Pearse Celtic B 1 Carrigtwohill United B 3
Scorers: Kieran Murphy 2, Paul Feehan.
Carrigtwohill came away from the top of the table clash in Leghanamore with a big 3 points against Pearse Celtic on Sunday morning. On a pitch that was still a bit hard from the frost Carrig started well playing some nice football. Shortly after Pearse were reduced to 10 men. Carrig took the lead when a good move down the left involving Mo Adam, Paul Feehan and Darragh Murphy, the ball found it’s way across to Kieran Murphy coming in from the right wing and he volleyed into the net from 15 yards. Pearse were level soon after then their right winger played ball across the box and the half-clearance fell to their centre mid who finished to the roof of the net. It remained 1-1 until half time.
Pearse started the 2nd half well with their quick wide players causing some problems for the Carrig defense without really creating any clear cut chances. Carrig soon got a grip on the game and made it 2-1 when Paul Feehan hit the post with a free kick and Kieran Murphy finished the rebound well. It was 3-1 soon after when Paul Feehan curled a free kick into the top corner. Carrig continued to create chances with Darragh Murphy and Tom O’Shea forcing the Pearse keeper into a number of good saves. Jason Walsh hit the crossbar with 5 mins to go and Carrig saw out the game after that.
