Under-16 CSL Div 3 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 4
Ringmahon A – 0
Carrigtwohill’s latest league game was played on Sunday morning in Ballyadam against in form Ringmahon Rangers A. Short a few regulars because of holidays and injuries the message before the game was our work rate had to be the key ingredient to get anything out of the game.
Seba starting as the lone striker certainly took this message on board when he closed down the opposition defender and proceeded to round the goalie and finish to the far corner for a deserved lead after 5mins. The confidence grew threw the whole team from goalie Fillip (on one leg all week) to back 4 of Matthew Robbie Jayden and captain Cathal who were repelling all Ringmahon attacks. The midfield 4 of Mateusz Amany Evan and Charlie worked their socks off closing and harrowing their opponents. Leroy playing in front of midfield always on hand to support Seba up front and willing to work hard to defend when the ball was lost.
The rest of the half saw very few clear cut chances but ended with Carrig in control of the game.
The second half started exactly the same as the first with substitute Cian on up front and working hard to close down the Ringmahon right back and unselfishly squaring the ball for Seba to tap in for his second goal and a 2 nil lead for the home side.
Kevin and Alex both came on to freshen up the hardworking midfield.
A free kick for Carrig from 35 yards out left of the goal and up stepped Leroy to finish to the far top corner for a 3 goal lead 60 mins into game. As good and all as that goal an even better one followed when from Matthew’s throw Alex chipped the ball forward for Leroy to volley an unstoppable shot over the Ringmahon goalie for a goal that Messi would be proud off.
Player of the match goes to striker Seba not only for his 2 goals but his unrelenting selfless work rate against a physical bigger opposition which set the tone for a brilliant team performance. Carrigs unbeaten run extends to 7 games and with only 4 games left in the league it’s all to play for. This win definitely was the best performance of the season with an ever evolving but dedicated squad improving all the time.
