Under-15 Div 3 League at Castleview
Castleview – 1
Carrigtwohill United – 1
The Under-15’s travelled to the northside of cork to play Castleview in their last away game of the season on Friday night.
Carrigtwohill who have struggled since the comeback after covid due to a depleted squad started the game knowing a draw would guarantee them safety in division 3 next season.
However, it was the already relegated home team with nothing but pride to play for, who on a very short pitch with long grass who adjusted to the conditions better and had a few long range efforts which flew offer the bar. Then, Castleview took a deserved lead just after the water break.
This was the wake up call the Carrigtwohill lads needed and they finally got a foothold in the game. The back four of Rob, Colm and Charlie got on top of their opponents to help drive the team on and Rollie, Paul and Ryan all went close before the break.
The second half was a much more even affair even though the hosts used every trick in the book to stay in the game. Carrigtwohill finally got the equaliser they deserved when a long ball from Rob at the back was expertly chipped over the goalie by Rollie for a simple tap in. The rest of the game saw chances go abegging by both sides with a draw a fair result on the night.
Player of the match goes jointly to goalscorer Rollie who shipped a lot of punishment but stuck to his task to get a deserved equaliser and Colm at the back for his organisation and commanding presence at the back.
A special thanks to the 4 Under-14 players who played a huge role in this performance.
