Mallow United – 1
Carrigtwohill United – 5
Scorers : Daniel McCarthy (2) Kieran Ngera (2), Rory Dolan
Carrigtwohill United A travelled to Mallow United for their second game of the season. In perfect playing conditions, Carrigtwohill started in a 4-5-1 formation wanting to study the opponents at the start.
Lone striker Daniel Mc gave the Mallow back 4 a tough time right from the start. Playing on a smaller than usual pitch, wingers Padraig and Kevin used the full width wisely, supplying ball into the Carrigtwohill striker who scored after a few near misses. 1 up at the first water break
Mallow, having a chance to get themselves organised, started putting the back 4 of Alex K, Callum, Luke, Cillian under more pressure and within 5 mins of the restart, their striker broke through and was fouled just inside the penalty area. The spot kick was calmly slotted away to make it 1-1 at the half time break.
Carrigtwohill then lost their prolific midfield player Brian to injury so their biggest challenge was to keep focused and be patient from the start of second half knowing there were goals to be had.
Having 3 capable subs in Alex sull, Daniel C and Adam ready to come on, the away side changed their formation to a 4-4-2 and this immediately changed the game. With a solid back 4 and a hard working midfield combination of Rory, Alex Sull, Cian, Adam, they soon got our their strikers Daniel Mc and Kieran closing down on the opponents goal scoring another 3 goals between them
And finally a great strike from outside box from playmaking midfielder Rory to make it 5-1 and put the game out of reach of the home team.
A great team performance. The Carrigtwohill lads are really starting to understand the beautiful game.
