Carrigtwohill United – 4
Corkbeg – 3
Carrigtwohill kept their winning run going last Saturday with a 4-3 win over Corkbeg.
We started the game fast and we’re rewarded with a goal after 3 mins when Hugh Crowley found Sean Guiney who played a lovely pass to Pòl who ran down the left took the ball into the box and finished superbly to the bottom corner.
Carrig were in total control of the game and made it 2 on 18 mins, again Pòl with another lovely finish from another Sean Guiney assist.
Carrigtwohill had some great chances before the break with Sean Guiney, Garry og and Matti Hodnett all going close but remaind 2-0 at the break.
Again we started strong in the 2nd half and we made it 3 when again Pòl picked up the ball 28 yards out and struck a bullet into the roof of the net.
Corkbeg pulled one back 15 mins into the 2nd half when a corner from the right went to the back post and headed in from 6 yards. 5 mins later they struck again and all of a sudden our lead was down to 1. They put a lot of pressure on us after that but some great tackles from Cillian McCann ,Jack Lombard and Hugh Crowley kept them out. With about 3 mins left Garry Og Horgan made it safe with a nice finish to the keepers right. The last kick of the game they made it 4-3 but to our relief the ref blew for full time.
The result put us up to 3rd but with 3 games in hand so promotion is clearly in our own hands.
Some good performances today, Cillian McCann, Matti Hodnett and Hugh Crowley but our man of the match has to go to Pòl o Connor for his superb hat-trick.
