Under-15 National Cup
1st October 2022 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 2
Corkbeg – 1
It was National Cup weekend and Carrigtwohill United U15s met Corkbeg in a 2nd round clash at Ballyadam Park.
The first half was tightly contested with both sides trying to get to grips with each other, clear cut chances were limited with the best effort coming from James Lambe for the home team on 28 minutes.
Carrigtwohill upped the tempo in the second half and took the lead 5 minutes after the restart when Roan O Keeffe drilled a fine effort across the keeper and into the bottom corner from the far right of the box.
Rayhan Soumaila worried the Corkbeg defence on a couple of occasions and really should have extended Carrigtwohills lead. Corkbeg fought their way back into the game and scored a well deserved equaliser on the hour mark but United would find a winner with 3 minutes to go following some excellent ball retention by O Keeffe forcing a Corkbeg defender to handle the ball in the penalty box.
Evan O Regan O Connor stepped up to dispatch the kick without a fuss and send Carrigtwohill into the 3rd round. Best on the day were Osas Aghedo, Roan O Keeffe and Evan O Regan O Connor but man of the match goes to Noah Nsengiyumva for a battling display in midfield.
