Carrigtwohill United – 4
Douglas Hall – 1
On Sunday 21st of April we welcomed Douglas Hall to Ballyadam for what was sure to be a very tough game.
It was a beautiful morning for a game with perfect conditions and the lads were well pumped up for this game.
The match started at a blistering pace with some fantastic football on display
Carrigtwohill had the better chances in the first 15 mins but failed to convert any.
As the game went on the lads grew more and more into the game and it was only a matter of time before we would make the pressure count.
In the 19th min the ball was whipped across the box and Killian O Halloran continued his run in behind the defender and calmly side footed the ball into the Doughlas Hall net.
This opening goal seemed to settle the lads and this was evident in how they played for the next 5 -10 mins.
Just before half time the ball was superbly crossed and once again Killian O Halloran ran onto the ball and slotted the ball into the net with a fine header to make the score 2-0 at half time.
Douglas Hall continued to play good football but our defence were rock solid today.
Charlie McCann and Mathew Board were in excellent form and they both stopped any shots on goal that Douglas were trying to develop.
Alex Coyne and Rian Newmann were outstanding in there position.
Alex Doyle in CDM was his usual self and was superb in this position
As the 2nd half started the lads were hungry for the 3rd goal and kept the pressure on the Douglas hall defence with some fantastic one touch football and this pressure paid off in the 38th min when Carrigtwohill were awarded a penalty.
Our usual penalty taker Mathew Board unselfishly gave the penalty kick to Killian O Halloran so he could try and complete his hatrick.
Killian didn’t show any nerves , picked his spot and sent the keeper the wrong way to complete his hatrick.
Jake Gleeson with his skill and determination was absolutely immense in his overall play.
Paul O Neill was running the show in midfield with Noah Foley
Miloz Giec with his blistering pace was causing the Douglas Hall defence numerous problems all day .
In the 58th min Paul O Neill received a wonderful pass in midfield and went on a fantastic run towards goal , as the keeper came out Paul slotted the ball through the keepers legs to make the score 4-0.
Overall this performance was one of the best performances this season to secure automatic promotion .
