Carrigtwohill United – 2

Avondale – 1

Carrigtwohill United A hosted Avondale in their first league game in five, Avondale having last season played in division 2.

The game started with some scrappy football, with neither team stamping any sort of authority on the game. 14min in and a looping shot from the edge of the box dipped over Cillian to give Avondale a 1-0 lead against the run of play

Carrig kept patient and with decent pressure we won two corners within as many minutes, good delivery from Kevin, could easily have seen Carrig lead 2-1 but neither of the resulting goal line scrambles were converted

36min, Daniel Mc won the ball midway into Avondale half and his cross was met by a sliding Rory who’s touch trickled wide of the back post

Right on the blow of half time Rory centred a great cross to Daniel Mac who calmly slotted it home to the back of the net. HT 1-1

44min and Carrig were looking menacing. Good footwork from Daniel Cunningham who cleverly played Daniel Mac in and his shot rattled the crossbar.

50min saw Yosef make a brilliant run and his ball to Daniel Mac could easily have been a goal but his shot was inches over the bar

66min a ball from Yosef on the left to Daniel Mac in the centre saw the Avondale keeper and defender tackle each other with the ball spilling out to Noah on the right  who tidely slotted the ball home for a 2-1 lead.

Man of Match goes to Shane Daly for his tireless midfield performance.

The home side held out to the end, the claim their first victory in division 3.
