Under-19 at Ringmahon Park

Ringmahon Rangers A – 2

Carrigtwohill United – 3

Carrigtwohill Under-16’s made the short trip to Mahon to play their last game of 2021 against Ringmahon Rangers A. Carrigtwohill started the game well, with the front 2 of Rollie and Leroy looking very dangerous everytime they attacked. However, a mistake on the left wing by a Carrigtwohill defender left the Ringmahon winger with an easy cross into the box and an easy finish for the home team to take the lead 29 mins into the first half.

The response from the Carrigtwohill lads was instant when straight from kick off midfielder Jayden played a perfect through ball for Rollie to race threw on goal and finish after rounding the onrushing Ringmahon goalie to level the game. The goal really gave Carrigtwohill the impetus to take the game by the scruff of the neck and a second goal arrived 5 minutes later when Leroy provided Rollie with a great ball for the strikers 2nd goal of the game. Well on top now, they quickly scored a third when the 2 strikers combined with Rollie this time providing the assist for Leroy to score expertly.

3 -1 up and comfortable, but Ringmahon were gifted a lifeline when a free kick from outside the box beat the otherwise solid Fillip in goals just before half time to leave the visitors 3-2 up.

Ringmahon buoyed by their 2nd goal started to take the game to the visitors but the centre half pairing of Robbie and Jacub stood tall to repel the Ringmahon attack. This was a day when the full 14 players were needed and subs Matthew Mateusz and Ethan made important contributions to get control of the game back. Ringmahon had a few half chances from corners but Carrigtwohill held on for a well deserved hard fought win to get the perfect early Christmas present.

Man of match goes to Under-15A player Jacub who’s overall defensive work and covering of his fellow defenders was indicative of a hard working team who deserved the 3 points
