Douglas Hall Under-16’s were the visitors to Ballyadam this weekend.
There was a heavy misty rain at Ballyadam, and you would not have been surprised if this game had been called off.
Douglas Hall took the lead against the run of play 6 minutes before half time.
Carrigtwohill started the second half with more urgency, but it was Douglas Hall who doubled their lead on the 52 minute.
On the 65 minute Carrigtwohill were fouled outside the box. Roan O’Keefe took the resulting free kick and placed the ball in the danger area for Luke McDonnell to open his goal scoring account with a well-placed header.
Carrigtwohill were making more inroads against Douglas Hall, Roan O’Keeffe who went on a marauding run, cut into the box, let fly with a shot only to just sail wide of the post.
Evan O’Regan-O’Connor also came close with a speculative shot only to be denied by an acrobatic save by the keeper.
On the 78 minute Carrigtwohill were fouled again. It was Rian Thornhill turn to take free kick and placed the ball on a six pence for Luke McDonnell to double his goal scoring account with another well-placed header.
The lads showed heart and determination to come back from two goals down but there was one last late bit of drama on the 81 minute Douglas Hall struck late to secure the winning goal.
Best on the day were Roan O’Keeffe, Noah Nsengiyumva and Niall Barry who made his long-awaited return from injury but player of the match goes to Luke McDonnell.
