League v Riverstown in Eastcliffe on Sunday 25th October 2015
Riverstown 2 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scorers –
Zack Casagranda, James Mulcahy.

Carrig came away with a point from a very hard fought game with Riverstown. Riverstown started the game at a tremendous pace during which our midfield was completely overrun, which was causing huge problems for our defence and their ability to stay organised. Riverstown took the lead during this period with a direct free kick which beat our keeper easily.

Carrig were forced into an early substitution to steady the midfield bringing John Carroll from defence into midfield, the move immediately worked as John started to win his challenges and started to get Carrig playing decent attacking football, Carrig had a number of chances to equalise during the half with Zack Casagranda causing the Riverstown defence problems all game, but we failed to equalise by half time.

Second half was much better for Carrig who now were on top and scored an equaliser after a sublime piece of finishing by Zack, Carrig were now winning all the midfield battles and in defence Conor Lee was marshaling his defence very well. Riverstown were always a threat with the ability of some of their attacking players but were finding clear cut chances hard to come by. Carrig took the lead with 12 mins to go again good work by Zack put a ball into his strike partner James Mulcahy who finished excellently first time.

Carrig let the lead slip 5 mins later again from a direct free kick, Carrig tried to protect the goal with bodies but still no one was able to stop the powerful strike from the Riverstown striker. Hugely disappointing to concede again from a direct free kick, but the lads didn’t give up in their search for the winner, when Zack after a nice piece of skill looked to have found the corner of the net only for a great save from the Riverstown keeper. Then in the last minute James Mulcahy scored a header but was ruled just offside. Game finished level, probably a fair result but still felt like points dropped after working so hard to get in the lead.

Ballyseedy Home & Gardens Player of the Match : John Carroll.
