League v Douglas Hall A in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 13th November 2016.
Carrigtwohill United 3 Douglas Hall A 0
Scorer –
Adam Rooney 3.

A great win to put us top of the league. The game started even enough with Carrig starting to control midfield after 10 minutes but it took a few chances before Adam Rooney struck with a lovely opening goal that was made by Keelan O’Brien on the right wing. Carrig continued to be on top and had to work hard for every chance as Douglas Hall were physical and strong in the tackle. Eventually Adam Rooney scored from long range with the ball skidding past the keeper on the wet surface.

Carrig were well on top in the second half when Adam Rooney completed his hat trick from the corner. This was an important goal as Douglas Hall looked like they could snatch a goal which would have put us under pressure. Overall the team were the better side and were unlucky not to score a couple more. Cameron Kenefick managed everything that was thrown at him.

Oisin Lynch was superb at centre back and did not put a foot wrong all day. Liam Moore, Tom Savage and Cian O’ Riordan completed a very solid back line that were very composed under pressure. Eric O’ Sullivan and Mark O’ Connor worked tirelessly and although they didn’t score their contribution was invaluable- we wouldn’t have won without the effort these lads showed. Adam Rooney got his second half trick of the season- well done Adam.

Man of the match goes to Captain Piaras Fitzpatrick who anchored our team from the defensive midfield position. Although  he was under pressure from a physically bigger opponent, and a centre forward that was dropping deep he protected his centre backs and broke up play after play. Well done Piaras. Subs Cody Cunningham, Eoin Holden, George McCarthy and Adam O’ Neill fitted in perfectly to the game plan when they came on.  Great attitude from the subs.

Training again Tuesday night at AstroTurf at 18:20 hrs.
