League Division 1

Crosshaven – 1

Carrigtwohill United – 10

Scorers: Kyle Kidney (4), Cillian Rooney (2), Tom Walsh (2), Noah Eddins (1) and Roan O Keeffe (1)

Carrigtwohill United Under-13’s were on the road for their second league fixture of the season travelling to newly promoted Crosshaven on a bright autumn morning.

This was their first visit to Camden since the coastal club installed a brand new full size ‘all weather pitch’ and it must be said the facilities are terrific.

Carrigtwohill were straight out of the traps with Noah Eddins and Kyle Kidney both scoring inside the first 5 minutes. Kyle would add two more to complete his hat trick before halftime and with Cillian Rooney also getting in on the act, it left the visitors leading 5-0 at the break.

The boys picked up right where they left off and Kyle got his 4th goal just after the restart. Crosshaven were awarded a penalty on 36 minutes and duly converted. Some of the football being played by the away side was a joy to behold especially and combinations between the midfield and forward line.

Roan O Keeffe struck Carrigtwohill’s 7th following a meandering run from midfield and Tom Walsh chipped in with 2 goals of his own before the final whistle. Interestingly, sandwiched between Tom’s goals was a penalty for Carrigtwohill. Goalkeeper and captain Adam Lee strolled forward to take the kick only to see his effort crash off the post but Cillian was first to react and tuck away the rebound.

Another fantastic performance in a game dominated by Carrigtwohill’s midfield and forwards, so much so the defence of Niall, Cathal, Jarlath and Sean Og were rarely troubled.

A terrific return from the opening two league games although tougher tests lie ahead.

Well done to all involved.
