Under-12A League at Ballyadam

Carrigtwohill United – 0

Pearse Celtic – 2

Carrigtwohill United Under-12A played their last game of the 2020-21 season at home to Pearse Celtic A on what must be the hottest day of the year so far! While the result did not go their way, the atmosphere and conditions were brilliant.

This 12A squad has been working hard throughout the year on developing their fitness, skills and overall game play, and this was very evident during the match. The first half ended 0-0 after Carrigtwohill had been the much stronger team overall, with some good wing play by Jerry and Alex, and a brilliant long range effort from marauding centre half Dylan, striking the cross bar from 20 yards out after a great break forward.

The heat in the second half really took its toll on their play, even with a strong bench of subs and plenty of game time for all. Noel was excellent in goals, pulling off two brilliant saves with one top corner flying save applauded by the large crowd watching on. Our defenders in Darragh O’H, Ben J, Dylan, Fionn and Alan, worked their socks off to keep Pearse out, in what were very tiring conditions. Our midfielders of Zach, Evan, Jerry, Alex, Ben K and Darragh C played some excellent football, getting on the ball and trying to attack with some flare. Our forwards of Gary Og, Jake & Katie kept going to the very end, trying their best to get a score.

But unfortunately the result wasn’t to go their way and Pearse Celtic won out 2-0. Well done to the visitors on what was an excellent game on the sunniest and warmest afternoon in a long time at Ballyadam.

Every member of the Under-12A squad deserves a well earned “pat on the back” for the effort and enthusiasm they bring to every training session and match.

For the management / coaching team of Shane, David, Leonard & Reamonn, it has been a pleasure to be involved with this excellent group of kids. Their enthusiasm for their sport and their squad is truly remarkable. Their effort to improve over the season has been inspiring, with each and every player showing development. A special thanks to all their parents for their support towards the squad.

Man of the match goes to the Squad, which includes players not available today – Callum, Luke, Alex O’S, Tunde, Conor. As a team and a squad, these u12A players are exceptional and the award is in recognition of the brilliant effort, attitude, enthusiasm and commitment shown throughout the year by all the players involved. Results do not always give a true reflection of the development of this squad and we are all confident that the future is bright for all these players. Well done gang!
