Carrigaline United 5 Carrigtwohill United B 0
Carrigtwohill United B suffered there fourth successive defeat Saturday afternoon in a 5-0 trashing away to Carrigaline United.
Carrigtwohill were missing nine players on the day so were understrength and struggled from the start against a good footballing team.
The home team had most of the possesion and put pressure on the Carrigtwohill defence but the away team held tough and even played some good football themselves at times. The breakthrough came after 38 mins where Carrigaline won a free kick just outside the box and was curled home in spectacular fashion. Two mins later they increased there lead through another long range shot and it was 2-0 to the home team at half time. It was tough on Carrig who defended so well but the home team deserved it.
Carrigtwohill came out to get themselves back in the game and some good play was encouraging for the first two mins but a bad backpass by Conor Healy was intercepted by the Carrigaline striker who ran through alone and slotted the ball into the back of the net to go 3-0 up. Carrigtwohill were deflated at this stage and were suffering injuries but didn't have the subs to bring and were really struggling and the home team scored again with another free kick to go 4-0 up. Carrigtwohill's day was made worse when they conceded another towards the end. Carrig keeper Atephen Aherne ran from his box to claim the ball but was left stranded and was lobbed.

Carrigtwohill United B 0 Park United 2
Carrigtwohill United B suffered there third consecutive loss in a row Saturday afternoon in Ballyadam.
Carrig had had been playing poorly in recent matches and continued this form in the first half where all the damage was done. Conditions were perfect and the Ballyadam pitch in a fantastic condition and both teams played some good football in the opening exchanges but after ten minutes Park had there first real chance only to blast the ball over from 5 yards, the away team had other chances before going one nil up on the 25 minutes mark with the Park forward getting some space in the box to shoot past the Carrig keeper. To be fair Carrig never really recovered and Park put more pressure on the Carrig defence and were rewarded before half time. The Park number 9 looked to be miles offside but the referee left play go on and Park increased there lead.
The home team came out with more purpose at half time but were pegged back shortly after with defender Alan Walsh sent off for a second bookable offence. This spurred the home team on and with ten men were the better team in the second half. Carrig made some subs with Brendan Cronin on for Stephen Cotter and Steven Deady on for Stephen O'Brien and both subs made an impact and in truth Carrig had chances to draw level. The first real chance came down the right hand side with Conor Healy crossing in for Brendan Cronin but he just headered wide and five mins later nearly scored spectacular goal from a long way out but the keeper made a great top corner save. Glen Celtic 3 Carrigtwohill United 0
Carrig suffered there second defeat of the league campaign saturday afternoon in an away defeat to Glen Celtic. Carrig were missing some key players but still had a decent team to start with and had some good pressure from the start from set pieces especially but didn't have any clear cut chances.
Glen Celtic in the mean time were pushing forward too and if it wasn't for the offside flag being raised, they would have been clean through on a few occasions. The breakthrough goal came on the 25 minute mark, some sloppy defending on the left side let the Celtic winger through, he crossed the ball in and the striker calmly finished into the corner to put the home team one up. From then on there was only one team in it with the home team kicking on, they were the more determined and were winning all the 50/50 challenges.
Carrig made a tactical change at half time with Steven Deady being replaced by Colin Ahern but the home team started as they had finished the first and scored within 5 minutes. Again the Carrig left back was beaten by his man and crossed a lovely ball to the back post where it was headered home. 2-0 to Glen Celtic.
Carrig were given a lifeline in the second half and awarded a penalty, Cormac Carroll chose to take it but put it straight towards the keeper and he saved it with ease. Carrig started to play alot better after and had some half chances but the home team increased there lead 5 minutes from time with a long range shot, it was a tame effort but the Carrig keeper couldn't catch it and it went into the back of the net to end 3-0 to Glen Celtic. In the final stages Richie Mannix was sent off for Carrig for foul language.

League v Glounthaune in Glenmore Park on Sunday 9th October
Glounthaune 0 Carrigtwohill United 1
Carrig got there second win of the season in Glounthaune Sunday morning with a 1-0 victory.
Carrig had a good squad of players to choose from and put out a strong team and put pressure on the home team straight way. Infact Carrig were the only team in it in the first half and dominated possesion and chances. Joe Mhondiwa came the closest with the first chance, Conor Healy threw the ball down the right hand side and Brendan Cronin headered the ball into the box. Joe gave a first time header but the ball hit the bar. The post denied him again ten minutes later, James Broderick the provider on this occasion. He played a lovely ball over the top, Joe ran through between the 2 defenders and lobbed the ball over the keeper but again the ball hit off the bar and was cleared by the Glounthaunes defender. The pitch was small and tight and Carrig used this to there advantage putting high balls into towards the head of Mhondiwa and Cronin and it paid off as Carrig took the lead, again Conor Healy took the throw towards the head of Cronin, he headed the ball into the box and Joe Mhondiwa tapped in to put the away team up and score his fourth league goal of the season.
Glounthaune really came into the game in the second half and put Carrig under pressure but couldnt take any chances and in truth the Carrig keeper Stephen Aherne didnt have a save to make. Steve Cotter had a chance for Carrig and the Glountahune striker went close with a spectacular overhead kick. The Carrig defenders were kept busy but the home team had no clear cut chances and Carrig held on for the win.

President's Cup v St John Bosco's B in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 2nd October
Carrigtwohill United 2 St John Bosco's B 1
Carrigtwohill united B qualified for the quarter finals of the Presidents cup with a 2-1 home win against local rivals St John Bosco's at the weekend. This was the fourth time this season the two teams had met so they knew all about each other. Both teams started brightly and had chances but it was the home team that took the lead in spectacular fashion, a Carrig player was fouled on the right hand side of the pitch, Cormac Carroll stepped up to take the free kick. He went for the cross but the ball went over everyone and landed in the top corner to put Carrig up 1-0.
Carrig increased the pressure and were rewarded 10 minuted later with another goal. Steven O'Brien picked up the ball in midfield and played a half volley towards winger Pearce O'Malley, the ball bounced and Pearce stuck out a leg and scored from the tighest of angles, a fantastic finish. Carrig were 2 up at the break.
Both teams played well at the start of the second half, Carrig chasing a third goal and Bosco's chasing the lead but it was the away team that scored next. A double substitution brought the goal with both subs involved. The Bosco's number 13 picked up the ball in midfield, rounded his man and ran through the Carrig half unchallenged and finished the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Carrig didnt have much chances in the second half, they went to the away team and some fine saves by Stephen Ahern and the post prevented them from scoring. With 5 mins to go the game could have changed for Carrig, boscos were awarded a penalty which was harsh on "man of the match" Cormac Carroll as he hadnt intentionally handled the ball. It didnt matter as the Bosco's centre half put it wide and the game finished 2-1 to Carrig who move on to the quarter finals.

League v Knocknaheeny Celtic in Ballyadam on Sunday 25th September
Carrigtwohill United 4 Knocknaheeny Celtic 4
Carrigtwohill United B were involved in another thrilling match at home to Knocknaheeny Celtic on Sunday morning. Conditions were tough as torrential rain before kick off meant the pitch was full of water and passing was difficult for both teams.
Carrig started the brightest and took the lead early on, Kevin O'Keeffe took the kick out and the ball was flicked on by Stephen O'Brien into the path of striker Joe Mhondiwa, he rounded the keeper and put the home team one up, scoring his third league goal of the season. The home team were two nil up minutes later, Pearce O'Malley picked up the ball on the left hand side, passed his marker and hit a shot with his right foot. The keeper did get a touch but couldn't stop Pearce scoring his first goal of the season. Knocknaheeny meanwhile were playing some decent stuff and came close on a few occasions and got one back soon after. The ball should have been cleared by the Carrig defenders but fell to the path of the Knocknaheeny striker and he put the ball in the bottom corner. But again Carrig came back and increased there lead soon after through Brendan Cronin. Pearce O'Malley put the ball towards Kevin Cody and won the tackle to play the ball to Cronin, he beat the offside trap but still had some work to do and calmly finished the ball into the right hand corner to score his second of the season to put the home team 3-1 up. But the away team fought back and scored a great individual goal close to the interval, 3-2 at half time.
As predicted both teams came out and played with a higher intensity second half, the pitch continued stop the passing game and both teams had chances but it was the away team who got the next and the equalizer. The Knocknaheeny player got a free shot and the keeper did his best but couldn't stop the strike. The Carrig keeper who was brilliant on the day despite conceding four goals, kept the home team in it and deserved his Ballyseedy Man of the Match award. The home team took the lead through substitute Cormac Carroll who rounded the keeper to score. Carrig were winning 4-3 with 5 minutes to go but again the away team came back with an equaliser from a set piece to bring it to 4-4 and the game finished this way. Carrig can be disappointed as they were winning on three separate occasions but a draw was a fair result.

Carrig continued to pressure and went ahead soon after through rightback Kevin Codey. Steve O'Brien laid the ball off and Codey hit the ball well from 40 yard out but the keeper couldn't handle it and it went into the back of the net to put the away team ahead. Carrig didn't hold onto the lead for long and Cork Road equalised soon after through a free kick outside the box. The ball was driven low and went through everyone, a rather fortunate goal to level things. Carrig then went 4-3 up from a corner swung in by James Broderick and was headed in by Colin Ahern. Carrig were now winning with 5 mins left but there was still time for more drama and the home side again equalised in controversial style.
