Sat Oct 7th AUL 1B Home to Leeside B
A roll-a-coaster of a game at Slatty Park saw a weakened Carrig side lead 3 times against local rivals Leeside, but in the end had to settle for a point.
Carrig started well, with Ian Kenny and Davy Barry controlling the centre of midfield. They scored first when a ball over the top beat the offside trap. Stephen Kidney challenged the keeper and came away with the ball for a tap-in. Leeside got their first equaliser before the break to send the sides off on level terms.
The second half continued were the first left off with Carrig controlling most of the ball. The second goal came after Stephen Kidney won a high ball in the box. It dropped to Stephen Moore, who laid it back to Willy Kidney. Kidney struck it with great power from 8 yards and even though the keeper got hands on it, he could stop it from flying into the roof of the net. Carrig's lead lasted into the closing 15 mins when Leeside drew level again from a set piece. Davy Barry thought he won the match for Carrig won he hammered home no.3 from 10yards with only minutes to go, but Leeside leveled again late on. A high ball into Carrig's box saw keeper Emmet o'Neill unfairly knocked off it by the Leeside striker. The ball fell kindly to the visitors and they scored a 3rd equaliser to take a point back to Little Island.
Team – Emmet o'Neill, Conor Healy, Colin o’Neill, Leonard Healy(Capt), Derrick Nolan, Ian Kenny, Davy Barry, Willy Kidney, Shane Harte, Stephen Moore and Stephen Kidney.
